WHERE GOD RESIDES

Man needed gods and religions to survive like food and drink. They gave them support, comfort and hope, they provided coordinates for good and evil, wrong and right. Those who believed lived and died more easily.

Whether his ancestors may have climbed from the tree or plucked the forbidden fruit from the tree of knowledge, in any case, Homo sapiens found himself confronted with a creation whose dimensions made his own existence seem insect-like.

Since the figure of the biped then emerged in the twilight of prehistoric darkness, he has created places to be close to his gods and to feel their power. He erected monoliths and pyramids, domes and temples on all continents in order to ask and pray, to sacrifice and honour.

These images show sacred sites around the world. The project is called »Where God resides«. It was first exhibited in 2000. The accompanying coffee table book was published in the same year.
